Group Skill Challenges - D&D

A  group skill challenge (GSC) is a way for you and your party to actively engage in any part of your game where tracking exact timing or locations are not as important but there still needs to be narrative progression and stakes and consequences if things go poorly. It would be tiresome to track every 10 feet of movement as a party moves between two locations and also not as much fun to just hand wave the whole trip. Or if the party is moving through many spaces, it would be difficult to accrue enough maps or possible locations to account for all their movement. A GSC hand waves some of the finer details but keeps the narrative and player engagement elements and the stakes of success or failure.
